Helios 40-2 85mm F/1.5 Lens for Nikon Full Frame and APS-C Cameras.

Helios 40-2 lens has a large aperture ratio that is perfect for portraits, street shooting, shooting in low-light and for fast-moving objects.

A special feature is the use of an achromatic lens enlightenment that leads to significant increase of light transmission and almost complete destruction of harmful ambient light which allows making photos even with bright light sources.

Helios 40-2 can be used with both Full Frame and crop Nikon Cameras. Focal length of 85mm on Nikon 1.5x crop will turn into effective focal length of 127.5mm.

On crop Helios 40-2 will still be a fine portrait lens.

The lens has an additional preset aperture ring. Aperture ring itself is located in the front of the lens, and preset aperture ring is in the middle. Preset aperture is well realized due to a large grip of the ring. It is one of the few lenses where it is really easy to use a preset aperture ring. Helios 40-2 has a 10-blades diaphragm. The number of blades is more than average, but when closing the aperture looks like a circular saw.

Glowing points in the blurred zone with closed diaphragm turn into “circular saw”. So it turned out that all pros and cons are assembled in an unusual way and make it really the lens with the character.

In particular Helios 40-2 is excellent for portraits where you need smoothness and don’t need strong sharpness (especially for women portraits).
